like lancelot, i stood outside, but couldn't get in to touch the grail!
As an East cost head(BOOS AND GUFFAWS ACCEPTED) who had mail-ordered and recieved tix for all of Worcester 4/1988, I thought I could just do the same deal for these shows-WRONG AGAIN, BOYO! but as I had bought my airline tix, and secured a place to stay,I went anyway....my ONLY visit to the "burnin Shore" of California...many memories..getting yelled at by a head as I naively put my finger up for a ticket..in Berkley no less! Standing outside of the Greek as folks went in, seeing a head pass by that I recognised as someone I camped next to the year before in Oxford MAINE..he just smiled and said, "probably!" when I asked! Maybe it was my Navy friend who looked like a narc as vainly asked about for tix, but I could NOT get in...later that night, I stood in Fisherman's Wharf with a young lady with a Boombox listening to the show, and driving back the next day, heard Rider on the radio!!
With all due respect to the MIDI hating reviewer before me, you can plainly hear Jer testing out some of it early on in space...a few weeks before(7/2/89) I was in Foxboro, Mass and Jer pulled out a strat with the MIDI interface pickup on it for a bit in space..maybe the same happened here?
I started listening at China, but this is REAL Good solid Dead,(Nice energetic jam in pre-Rider zone, NICE return to Playin, the drums was great, and the Other one is REAL fired up!) and I guess it represents somehing to me personally as the "one that got away"...as they all are now! Peace to all you listening, and may the Creator bless you as he most surely did to those of us who went to see the good ol' GRATEFUL DEAD! email @ dimonidejax@
